SUITSUIT TRAVEL GUIDE | Brazil

Brazil, a country where you’ll find the rhythms of samba, the colours of the rainforest, and the passion of carnival. In our travel guide, we take you on a unique journey through this South American country. Discover the essence of Brazil, with a particular focus on the experience, traditions and unique feel of each place.

São Paulo - ‘Concrete Jungle’

In the vibrant heart of Brazil, the dynamism of the metropolis meets the deep-rooted Brazilian culture. São Paulo, the largest city in South America, effortlessly balances between skyscrapers and the ambiance of local art, music, and gastronomy. Lose yourself in the urban vibes as you stroll along the bustling Paulista Avenue. Enjoy a coffee to-go or admire the city from the heights of a rooftop lounge.

From Museums to Traditional Delights

While enjoying the lively energy of São Paulo, explore the impressive Museu do Ipiranga, where the history of the indigenous people of Brazil comes to life. Let yourself be fascinated with market stalls selling traditional Brazilian delicacies such as a pastel (Brazilian snack) and a refreshing Caldo de Cana (a drink made from freshly squeezed sugar cane).

Away from the Hustle

When the heat in the city becomes too much, the Paulistas (residents of São Paulo) trade the urban hustle for a weekend on the Riviera. All you need here for the authentic, Brazilian beach experience are Havaianas, a plastic beach chair, an umbrella and a football. Grab the bus with ease and surround yourself with the rainforest, yellow-green bikinis and stalls selling caipirinhas and coconuts.

Rio de Janeiro - ‘Cidade Maravilhosa’

With its iconic beaches of Ipanema and Copacobana as well as the majestic Cristo statue, Rio de Janeiro offers more than postcard-worthy spots. Delve deeper into authentic Rio as you wander the winding streets of Santa Teresa, surrounded by boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. Savour the Brazilian passion in local dishes such as Feijoada, a meal that consists of rice, black beans and beef stew. In Rio too, you can't escape the caipirinhas; the go-to cocktail with fresh lime!

Subtropical Forests and Mansions

In addition to exploring the bustling neighbourhoods, you might enjoy a retreat into nature. Parque Lage offers the perfect place for a lovely walk or picnic. In this subtropical forest at the foot of Corcovado, you'll discover a 19th-century mansion, where, by the pool, you'll find the ideal spot for an extensive brunch.

Consciously Ending the Day

For a delightful cup of coffee at the end of the day, Confeitaria Colombo is the place to be. As soon as you enter, you step into the original, old lift and are guided to your table, where you can admire the historic building while enjoying your coffee. The brigadeiros (a Brazilian snack with chocolate) are highly recommended here!

While enjoying all that Rio has to offer, it's important to remain aware of your surroundings. There is a significant gap between rich and poor in this country, which may influence your travel experience. To protect yourself and others, it's wise to stay away from favelas (slums) and secure valuable belongings. Try to blend in with the local population or hire a certified tour guide if in doubt!

Florianópolis - ‘The Magic Island’

Florianópolis, also known as Floripa, offers a laid-back beach destination amidst nature where you can surf, sandboard, and enjoy beautiful beaches. Escape the everyday hustle and opt for an authentic stay in a homestay or B&B. Enjoy a good book in your hammock while the barbecue is fired up, and don't be surprised if you're visited by monkeys from the nature reserve!

Art and Culture

Are you a lover of ancient architecture? Then the impressive Palacio Cruz e Sousa in the centre of Florianópolis is definitely worth a visit. At this fascinating palace, you can enjoy varying exhibitions and experience its unique history.

Gradually on track

Immerse yourself in nature on beautiful hikes to deserted beaches such as Lagoinha do Leste. Access to this beach is only possible on foot, with a route that cuts right through the jungle. In addition, enjoy a beautiful hike through the Dunas da Joaquina, which also makes the perfect spot for sandboarding!
