B CORP
We are incredibly proud to be a certified B Corporation (B Corp). Certified B Corporations are for-profit, purpose-driven companies that are committed to using their business as a force for good. In other words, they are companies that are reinventing business.
As a B Corp, we meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance our profit targets with our purpose. In doing this, we are joining a growing community of companies such as Dopper, Tony's Chocolonely, Rituals, Triodos Bank, Innocent and Marie-Stella Maris, who are all striving to make a positive impact on the world.
Becoming a B Corp
The certification is issued by the non-profit organisation B Lab, which assessed not only our products but also our entire business operations. To qualify for a B Corp certification, we had to demonstratethat, in addition to making a profit, we prioritise people, the environment, and society. Amending our articles of association to reflect this commitment was part of the process.
The B Impact Assessment
The certification process is rigorous, requiring applicants to achieve a benchmark score of at least 80 points and provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices in areas such as material use, worker compensation, ethics, equality, charity, corporate transparency, and more. SUITSUIT scored 96.8 across all impact areas, a score that is publicly listed in the global directory. It isn’t meant to be easy; it took us almost a year to complete this comprehensive assessment, which required a lot of effort on the part of almost everyone in the company.
Assessments are carried out on five so-called impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.
GOVERNANCE
Questions concerning our mission, our stakeholder engagement, our governance structure and oversight, as well as our level of transparency.
WORKERS
Questions on how we treat our employees, including aspects such as renumeration practices, benefits, training, employee ownership, inclusivity, gender equality and the work environment.
COMMUNITY
Questions concerning our impact on external community stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, the (local) economy and the (local and global) community, as well as our practices regarding diversity, job creation, civic engagement, and charitable work.
ENVIRONMENT
Questions to check our direct and indirect environmental impact.
CUSTOMERS
Questions to check the impact our business model has on our customers.
Minimum score
Enough points must be obtained in all impact areas, at least 80 in total. The average score of a B Corp company is 94 points. We scored 96.8 points. B Corp companies can also evaluate their performance compared to other companies that have been through the B Impact Assessment. This way, we can see where our company is above average, and where there is room for improvement.
Re-assessment
Getting a B Corp certificate is not a one-off act. We are reassessed every 3 years. This periodic assessment compels us to continuously improve. It is a fine recognition of our efforts so far, but also encourages us to remain steadfast in our commitment to use our business to do good.
The importance of being a B Corp
We feel a deep responsibility to protect the world we travel in, so that we and future generations can continue to explore all its beauty. We do this in the way we act, respond, and make conscious choices. Not only for the company and its stakeholders, but also by doing what is right for people and the world we all live in. Both here and around the world.
In order to understand where we stood in our journey to contribute to a better world, and where we could still improve, we sought an objective method that would provide insight not only into our environmental impact, but also into our social impact and performance. Our search led us to B Corp, a highly comprehensive and rigorous certification with a closeknit community of companies. We see B Corp as an external partner that, in short, forms an opinion on how we are doing on the sustainability ladder, environmentally, socially and economically.
