Falling Stars | Discover the night in a new way

Have you ever taken a walk on the beach at night? Looking up, you see countless stars twinkling in the sky. August is the perfect month to stretch out an evening and gaze at the stars. In this blog, you'll discover why this time is so special and how you can plan an unforgettable evening with your friends.

Meteor Shower

You might wonder why August is such a special month for stargazing. The answer lies in the annual meteor shower, better known as the Perseid meteor shower, which occurs this month. With a bit of patience and a comfortable spot to sit (or lie down), you can witness dozens of shooting stars during this period.

The meteor shower returns every year, with this year’s peak on the 12th and 13th of August. In the days leading up to and following these dates, you’ll notice more shooting stars in the sky than at other times of the year.

Astrology

We found this phenomenon so fascinating and interesting, that we decided to make a teambuilding exercise out of it. While the stargazing happens at night, we decided to just do the exercise during the day. In Zandvoort, a town in the Netherlands, we learned more about astrology and the meteor shower, as well as about each other.

Astrologer Sabine Metz shared insights about the Perseid meteor shower, why it happens annually, and how it connects to astrology. She explained that certain star signs—especially Libra and Leo—may feel the urge to address long-standing intentions during this time.

Manifesting

According to Sabine, this period is the best time to manifest, or set intentions for the future. These may be for a week, a month, or even a year ahead. At the end of her presentation, she took a moment for us to set an intention together.

This exercise led us to imagine ourselves at a future moment. One colleague envisioned herself with her newborn baby and partner in their backyard, while another pictured herself enjoying a coffee in a café in Australia. Sabine provided everyone with a manifestation journal to record their thoughts and visions.

Getting Started

If you’re looking for a unique activity to do with friends, an evening of stargazing is easily arranged! For example, you can head to the beach — or if that’s not nearby, find a secluded, dark field. Bring a blanket, your favourite wine, and a journal. You and your friends can write down your intentions and share them with each other if you like. It's written in the stars!
