SUITSUIT TRAVEL GUIDE | Paris, Amsterdam, and Cuba

From a day trip in your own country to a road trip through unknown territory, it's still great to discover new things. Whether it’s the nature, a museum, or the beach. Immerse yourself in the culture of the place you are currently in. In the evening, enjoy a delicious meal at one of the atmospheric restaurants to round off an innovative day. This month we take you to Paris, Amsterdam, and Cuba.

PARIS

We start with the city of love and fashion. Where you can go up to the tip of the Eifel Tower or visit the most beautiful sculptures and paintings in the Louvre. While these are obviously very beautiful places to visit, you can also choose to discover authentic Paris in a different way. For example, by learning about the history behind one of the biggest fashion brands. The Dior Museum. This wonderful museum shows more than just the past; it also introduces you to Paris' present haute couture and takes you on an extraordinary journey through fashion.

Once you have completely immersed yourself in fashion, you’ll probably want to hit the shopping streets. In the Le Marais district, you can enjoy different historical buildings, entertainment venues, and particular shops. For example, BHV Marais; a large department store in a beautiful building, where you can buy the most beautiful clothes. If you are looking for books, jewellery and antiques, then Village st. Paul is worth a visit. Here you will find all kinds of boutiques.

Of course, new clothes are always nice to buy and eventually take home, but you can also get a gift for yourself in another way. Throughout Paris you will find several photobooths. Such as vintage photobooth Montemarte. It can be found on the 18th arrondissement. If you want to take more photos, you can also visit L'Atelier des Lumières. This atelier is a digital art museum, where you literally step into art. Digital exhibitions portraying the history of art are projected on the walls, ceilings, and floors throughout the building.

After all these impressions, you want to end this beautiful day with delicious food. This can be done at Carboni's, which brings a touch of Italy to Paris. Here you can enjoy delicious pizzas, pastas, and other dishes. Each dish looks like a work of art and the atmosphere is cosy and vibrant. Looking for a place to eat in between meals? Then stop by Carette. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch or classic high tea. French style, of course: this is the place to be for creamy French macarons and crepes.

AMSTERDAM

Not to be missed in the travel guide is this extraordinary city. Amsterdam has something for everyone, whether you want to visit the best parties or prefer to stroll quietly through a museum. A weekend visiting Amsterdam with your family, friends, or partner remains a fun experience. Start the morning at photography museum FOAM. Here you can enjoy various exhibitions. Like the solo exhibition of Sem Langendijk which is showing until June 18. After FOAM, you can have lunch at Libertine. This French café serves tasty salads, sandwiches, and small snacks. Then head on to The 9 Little Streets. It’s located on the canal belt and is full of cute boutiques and bookstores. Or if you are more interested in vintage clothes and local products, take a look at the Noordermarkt on Saturdays. Besides picking up great gifts here, there are plenty of small cafés where you can eat delicious bites over a good cup of coffee.

If you want to visit nature and get some fresh air, you can head to Amsterdam-Oost. This is where Hortus Botanicus is located. Enjoy thousands of plants in the greenhouses and big gardens. In summer, they will also be open for visitors in the evening. Meaning you can have a drink after dinner among all the flowers. At the end of the day, you can have dinner at Café Caron. Here you can enjoy the delicious French inspired dishes combined with their homemade wine. Feel like having a drink afterwards to relax? The Jordaan is perfect for sitting on a terrace and enjoying a wine or cocktail so you can quietly take in Amsterdam one more time.

CUBA

Cuba is the representation of fusion: different cultures, art, craftmanships and food immersed and co-working together. The country is increasingly attracting more tourists over the last few years and that’s no surprise. Cuba has it all: the perfect weather, a fantastic culture, and insanely beautiful nature. If you go to Cuba, an unforgettable holiday is guaranteed. On the island of Trinidad, you get all the goodness of Cuba combined, it's not surprising to find it back on the UNESCO's world heritage list. Explore the island by bike and soak up the atmosphere. Or book a safari tour inland and discover the beautiful nature Cuba has to offer, such as the valley of Viñales. This is Cuba's main tobacco region, an industry they have become hugely known for around the world. You can cycle, go by car, or even horseback ride through here. Everywhere you look, you’ll see fields full of tobacco plants, drying sheds made of palm leaves and farmers in overalls working the land.

In Cuba, besides all the beautiful nature, you can also enjoy the delicious food the country has to offer. For instance, they have certain traditional dishes you have to try whilst being there. ‘Doubles’, for example. These are two deep-fried flatbreads ("bara") with chickpea curry in between. This dish is eaten for breakfast by locals. Or ‘Chow’, a snack containing lots of tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. Perfect for in between meals when you spend a day at the beach. Spending the night is usually done in a ‘casa particular’. This is a bed & breakfast, where you stay in a Cuban house. Although those houses used to bring you into contact with the local community, nowadays you mainly get a lot of service and privacy.
